New Tesla Radars Appears for FCC Filing

Since the company previously eliminated its EV radars back in 2021, it was very shocking to see a fresh Tesla radar in a leaked FCC file. The electric vehicle company asserted in 2016 that it already possessed all the hardware required for its ideal self-driving technology and upcoming software improvements. Tesla FSD is far from finished, though, as more improvements must be made before users can operate it while oblivious to their surroundings. Now, it appears that Tesla will deploy a new radar in its EVs. The front-facing radar and ultrasonic sensors on Tesla's electric vehicles were recently removed, according to the most current report from Electrek. All of these are a part of Tesla's new Tesla Vision strategy, which eliminates all other types of sensors in favor of cameras, which are used to see and drive on the road.

This is why many enthusiasts are shocked to see a radar for Tesla's EVs in the company's most recent FCC file. According to the exposed documents, Tesla will start selling the upgraded radar gadget in January 2023. Why did Tesla take down the radar sensors? According to reports, adding radar sensors to electric vehicles is quite expensive. Since radar sensors require more computational power, data processing is likewise more difficult. These were the main factors that led Tesla to decide to exclude the radar components from its electric cars. The manufacturer added that all that is required to create completely autonomous vehicles is a vision-only system.
