On an iPhone or iPad, how do you share a Wi-Fi password?

But the days of dictating or having someone read the password from a piece of paper are over: On an iPhone or iPad, sharing a Wi-Fi password only takes a few taps. But bear in mind that for this to function, both of you will need to be using an iPad or iPhone; otherwise, you'll have to input the password manually. If you want to share your home's password with visitors while still protecting your privacy, a little-known Wi-Fi networking shortcut can simplify life for everyone while keeping you safe. Without explicitly disclosing it or requiring your guests to key it in, the Wi-Fi sharing function, which debuted in the autumn of 2017 with iOS 11, may connect any visitor to your home using an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or even your Mac running macOS High Sierra or later. This is the procedure. Our Must-Have Apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac: 2022 Edition – The Sweet Setup Photo Credit: The Sweet Setup

Get both devices ready

Make sure your personal hotspot is turned off and that your Contacts list already has the Apple ID of the individual you want to share your Wi-Fi password with. Your two gadgets ought to be physically close to one another. The most recent iOS or iPad OS version should be loaded on both devices.
  • Verify that your visitor is already listed in your Contacts by searching for them using their unique Apple ID email address. If not, add them right away by selecting Contacts > Add > Input data > Done.
  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth on your iPhone and the iOS device of your visitor (toggle on).
  • Put both devices in close proximity to one another and select Settings > Wi-Fi > Your Wi-Fi network name to allow visitors to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
  • A password box shows on your phone when your visitor taps the name of your network. Tap Share password when the card displays on your iPhone. On your visitor's device, the connection occurs automatically.
  • You'll receive a notification on your iPhone when the connection is successful. Click Done.
