Navarone Garibaldi Garcia isn't immediately apparent as the child of Priscilla Presley, the 77-year-old ex-wife of Elvis Presley, save from possessing his mother's eyes. The musician told PEOPLE in this week's issue, which hits newsstands on Friday, "A lot of people know about me. But they don't know me." Additionally, Navarone, 35, claimed that even though he was primarily kept out of the spotlight growing up, his ancestry loomed. He said, "I got in trouble more than everybody else, because kids' parents would find out who my mom was, and they'd want a reason to talk to her. I wasn't very comfortable with it." Furthermore, he recently returned to the spotlight when he showed up for the Graceland funeral service for his half-sister Lisa Marie Presley on January 22. Lisa Marie, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla, passed away on January 12 at the age of 54 after experiencing an apparent cardiac arrest. And now, Navarone is finally prepared to share his life's experiences with the world, including his time spent with his famous mother, his battle with fentanyl addiction, and learning the truth about the past of his father, producer Marco Garibaldi, with the release of his new song "Acid Plane" with his band Them Guns on Friday. Details about Navarone's life

Navarone Garibaldi Garcia is the only child of Priscilla and Garibaldi, who first met through friends, and was born in 1987. Additionally, he and his father didn't start getting along well until after Priscilla and Garibaldi split in 2006 after 20 years together; they never got married. "The disciplinarian role didn't work between us, but the friend role did," Navarone revealed. "He wanted someone to go out drinking with." Moreover, at the age of 18, he relocated to Santa Cruz, over six hours away from his family in Los Angeles, where he later formed Them Guns. Further, his bubble popped in 2008 when a National Enquirer reporter learned that he was cultivating marijuana at his house. "It ended up on the front page," Navarone said. "Everybody knew who my family was again." "I thought, 'OK, I'm going into the family business. I'll write a song, and then we'll start touring it,'" Navarone claimed. "I didn't realize it takes way more than that." On another note, while he acknowledged that having his mother's support and connections has been a blessing, he remarked that there is a "misconception that I was raised extravagantly with Elvis' estate and money ... That wasn't the case." Additionally,  Navarone wasn't close to his half-sister Lisa Marie in the years before her passing. More details

Navarone's life changed in 2017 when he learned some information about his father, who he had previously believed to be from a wealthy Italian family. He discovered his father was Brazilian, not Italian, after corresponding with a teenager from Brazil who had contacted him years earlier claiming to be his "cousin" and that he changed his last name from Garcia to Garibaldi after hearing he'd never succeed in Hollywood if he had a Hispanic last name. Moreover, Navarone claimed that Garibaldi told him to "Lose my number" when he questioned him about this revelation. And that was the last time he spoke to his father. In addition, two weeks after learning about his extended relatives, he traveled to Brazil to meet them. He confessed, "I lost one family member, but I gained 20-plus. I have zero regrets." But another secret ultimately forced him to cut his trip short. Navarone Garibaldi Garcia recalled that his "family there didn't know I had a drug problem." And so, he promised them he "wouldn't come back again until my problem was resolved." Navarone developed a drug problem when he first started using heroin as a teenager. He later became addicted to fentanyl. Navarone admitted, "I became so addicted that I'd need it every 45 minutes." After that, he detoxed for a month at his mother's house. He said, "The whole world got a lot better [afterward]." On another note, Navarone still smokes marijuana and consumes alcohol.

What's more

Navarone Garibaldi Garcia claimed that it is now his duty to help Priscilla after Lisa Marie's death. In addition, he intends to travel to Brazil with his mother later this year. Navarone also said he "would love to move there someday." Finally, he hopes to embark on an international tour with Them Guns to establish himself as a well-known musician. "There were some points where I didn't think I'd make it here," he remarked. "I'm so proud of how far I've come."
