Rivian Releases Software Update That Adds 'Snow Mode' Just In Time For Winter

The Rivian software team has been working diligently on enhancements and new features to make up for the sluggish truck delivery. Despite being a small group, satisfied consumers are excellent brand advocates. The "Snow Mode" function, which lets you maximize control with an emphasis on comfort while you're in icy, slushy, or snowy conditions, is the biggest and most prominent feature of the latest update. The new Snow Mode helps to lessen the sensitivity of the braking system to enable better handling on slick roads because I've found Rivian automobiles to have an extremely strong regenerative braking system (the two options are Normal and High). No driver would enjoy dealing with a sliding automobile every time the brakes are used as a result of regen mode. These are highly capable off-road trucks, so you have to question why there wasn't a "Snow Mode" from the start. Fortunately, Rivian has been listening to its consumers and has taken swift action to appeal to the general public. Rivian replaces Apple Car EV Project's The ability to heat the front and back rows of seats, the steering wheel, and activate the defrost system all using a mobile app is one of the most significant changes (software update version 1.9). The capability to send an address from Google Maps or Apple Maps directly to the truck's navigation system is a significant update and a welcome touch. Additionally, although specific figures have not been made public, this software upgrade ostensibly improves battery efficiency for people who experience range anxiety. Why these updates are being released after the vehicles have already been delivered may be a mystery to you. After all, many cars have these characteristics from the start. Unofficially, Rivian has responded that they want to make sure the experience is ideal for their clients, and that involves thorough testing and cautious rollouts over time. However, no official spokesman for Rivian has commented on this. In my opinion, they are hurriedly releasing automobiles to appease investors and early pre-order buyers. It's important to note that certain Rivian cars feature wood trim on the back of the first-row headrests while others do not. Put it down to cost-cutting or improvements to the assembly line? The most recent Rivian software update fixes the following additional new features and bugs:
  • If you have an account, use the Tidal music app.
  • Updates to Spotify that allow for the listening of audiobooks
  • You may individually adjust the volume of the navigation speech, Amazon's
  • Alexa, media, and phone conversations (this has been a big issue if you are listening to music and not able to hear the Rivian navigation system talking to you)
  • Enhanced ride quality across all driving modes
  • Your present location does not have to be an address to be set as "home" or "work."

There are still some issues: I did observe that I couldn't log out of one Spotify account in order to switch to another account, but that's little in comparison to being able to drive with assurance in the snow. The Unofficial Rivian Software Tracker website has a complete list of features and issue patches.
