Sheryl Crow is ecstatic following her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination. The "Strong Enough" singer spoke to PEOPLE during the American Heart Association Red Dress Collection Concert in New York City on Wednesday. Crow, 60, said, "I'm still a little bit in shock." She continued, "It feels like I've been nominated for an Oscar for a 30-year movie. So it's really cool. I'm really honored." For those unaware, earlier this week, Crow was nominated along with George Michael, The White Stripes, Missy Elliott, Cyndi Lauper, Iron Maiden, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, A Tribe Called Quest, Warren Zevon, Soundgarden, The Spinners, Kate Bush, and Joy Division/New Order. Furthermore, she posted a video on social media shortly after it was revealed that she had been nominated, in which she thanked her fans. Crow wrote in the post's caption: "I am blown away by the @rockhall nomination… it really means so much to me. Thank for your support, and for being a part of the voting process! Love you all!"

According to a news release, the ballots will be sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 musicians, historians, and representatives of the music industry who will consider things like the artists' influence on other musicians, the breadth and depth of their careers, and more. The public's top five artists will comprise a "fans' ballot" that, along with the other ballots, will be used to choose the Class of 2023, which will be revealed in May. She remarked, "I think of those songs as being the incredible gift that keeps giving, the fact that those songs have taken me to Israel and they've taken me to South America and all over Asia and all over Europe." Lastly, Crow added, "I'm so grateful."
