During the height of the Ukraine-Russian crisis, the independent space corporation made the decision to support the nation. However, it appears as though SpaceX can no longer offer its broadband services in Ukraine for nothing. This is not unexpected given that the aerospace company continues to rely on its cutting-edge satellite-based internet service to generate income. Instead of asking the Ukrainian government to cover the cost of its Starlink internet terminals, SpaceX asked the Pentagon to do so for the balance of 2022. SpaceX requests that the Pentagon foots the bill for the Starlink service in Ukraine. Elon Musk allegedly wrote to the Pentagon, according to the most recent CNN Politics report. The letter asked the Pentagon to cover the costs of Starlink in Ukraine, according to documents that were leaked. SpaceX requests that the Pentagon pay for the Starlink service in Ukraine; terminals may be removed. In its letter, the space agency stated that it was "not in a position to give more terminals to Ukraine or to fund the existing terminals for an unlimited period of time." However, a different cover letter stated that SpaceX was unable to provide more terminals in Ukraine at this time. As previously requested by Ukrainian General Valerii Zaluzhniy, who recently requested an extra 8,000 Starlink terminals, the aerospace company also acknowledged that it is no longer in a position to meet that demand. SpaceX requests funding from Pentagon How much should the Pentagon bear? According to the aerospace agency, the defense group must pay roughly $120 million for the remaining months of 2022. On the other hand, if the US government wants SpaceX to continue providing its Starlink service in Ukraine, it will cost the Pentagon some $400 million over the following year. While announcing its intention to remove the terminals in Ukraine that had been given by Starlink, SpaceX is also working to expand the network throughout Asia. According to SpaceNews, a contract was signed on October 12 between SpaceX and the Japanese telco KDDI.
