The US Patent and Trademark Officer received an application to expand Tesla's trademark for usage in ships and aircraft. Many people assumed that the carmaker was already developing these cars. However, a self-described enthusiast claimed that he was the person behind this application without the knowledge of the business. On December 28th of last year, a file was made with the USPTO indicating that Tesla intended to increase its selection of electric motors for "not-for-land vehicles." According to a report, the person behind this application was a Tesla enthusiast, not the business itself. On the website of the office, Jerome Eady was identified as the trademark owner and was noted as "awaiting assignment to an examining attorney." Many individuals were perplexed by this application at the time of its filing. Eady claimed that he filed the paperwork as he moves forward with the company's plans to introduce new product categories. In essence, he benefited the business by applying defiantly against Elon Musk's directions. The fan was not connected to Tesla or the CEO in any other way. However, the CEO had been thinking about planes and jets ever since. According to reports, Musk has been hoping to create this kind of vehicle and has a concept for an eVTOL plane. He claims that Tesla won't start selling this new product until battery energy density has sufficiently increased to make it economically feasible. This would require a 400 Wh/kg, but they are not currently being produced commercially. He did add that some battery technologies are beginning to approach this figure. Musk added that Tesla needs to concentrate on ground vehicles for the time being, despite his desire to take this into account. Fans predicted that Musk would build an electric jet in 2020 after he tweeted his fascination with the idea. Then, when one of his followers urged him in the comments to make a "electric one," he said, "Maybe I will."
