When converted to miles per gallon, Tesla vehicles use the least amount of fuel, followed by Japanese or Korean automakers including Subaru, Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, and Mazda. Then come the German automakers, whereas GM, Ford, or Stellantis are at a disadvantage due to the trend toward gas-guzzlers. Despite the recent consumer trend toward larger, heavier vehicles with higher horsepower, most manufacturers were able to considerably reduce overall emissions footprints by improving fleet fuel efficiency, according to the EPA. It noted 347 grams per mile as the absolute lowest level of emissions for new cars in the most recent 2022 Annual Automotive Trends Report. In addition, new automobiles now use 32% less fuel than models that were introduced in 2004, resulting in a real-world average of 26.4 mpg, which the EPA predicts will be the final figure in 2022. With a staggering 123.9 mpg equivalent, Tesla leads the field in the US, followed by Subaru with 28.8 mpg and Kia with 28.7 mpg, and all other brands from Japan or Korea, neither of which has an aggregate fleet consumption below 27 mpg. The greatest performers are Toyota and Kia, whose large fleets' emissions were dramatically reduced by raising their fuel efficiency by up to 20%. https://www.gadgetany.com/news/what-is-the-tesla-supercharger-and-how-much-does-it-cost/ Undoubtedly, the shift to hybrid and all-electric vehicles has contributed to part of the positive change, more than offsetting the long-standing preference for larger SUVs over sedans. However, the EPA states that current automobiles are bigger, heavier (on average 4,289 lbs heavier), and have the greatest total horsepower ever.
