The AR Headset's Net Sales Indicate Apple's First Model to Ship One Million Units, Product Labelled a "Dud"

Image Source: Future Apple is under pressure to deploy its first AR headset as soon as possible, but despite the early start, one source claims that the mixed-reality wearable will only ship one million units this year. According to these projections, the gadget will not generate as much income as Apple's other goods, with the same source labeling it a "dud" when compared to others.

Apple is apparently generating 'little to no profit' on the debut of the AR headset

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the total income for this one product will be $3 billion, with a speculated price of $3,000 and one million devices expected to be sold this year. According to his 'Power On' newsletter, Apple will earn little to no profit from the release, implying that the major goal of the AR headset launch would be to guarantee that the technology giant takes it to market ahead of its competitors in order to gain a significant foothold. “The company believes it can sell about a million units of the headset — likely to be dubbed the Reality Pro or Reality One —  in its first year. At $3,000, that would mean revenue of about $3 billion. There would be little to no profit at first, given that the components in the device are so expensive and Apple won’t be seeking its typical margins just yet.” Despite the launch advantage, Gurman labels the AR headset a "dud," in part because of its exorbitant price, but also because the market has not developed to welcome a product like this. With Apple's second model, which is also rumored to be less expensive, the company's consumer base may grow. “In terms of unit sales, the first version will look like a dud next to the company’s existing products. It’s still likely to make Apple the market leader in mixed reality within a few months, but that’s just sign of how weak the current market is.”
