Toyota Manager Issues Having an all-EV lineup, the "Silent Majority" is Unsure

Akio Toyoda, the head of Toyota, concerns if the company should have an all-electric or EV-only lineup. The "silent majority," according to the automaker's top executive, continues to harbor reservations. According to a recent article in The Washington Post, Toyota Motor President Aiko Toyoda acknowledges that he continues to have reservations about switching the entire portfolio to electric vehicles. The top executive of the well-known automaker claims to be a member of the "silent majority" in the sector. He adds that the silent majority is still debating whether to pursue an EV-only automobile offering. It is important to note that newer competitors like Tesla, owned by Elon Musk, have exclusively offered all-electric vehicles. Other options, such gas- and hybrid-powered plug-ins, are not available. When Toyoda was in Thailand, he chatted with several reporters and said that the majority of people in the auto sector continue to have their doubts about such a plan. The executive continued by revealing that "the quiet majority is doubting whether having EVs as the only option is truly a good idea." He asserts that certain people in the enormous auto business still have some reservations about an all-EV lineup. The Toyota executive highlighted the reasons why these individuals are debating speaking up. They "believe [it] is] the trend so they [cannot] speak out loudly," he continued. Toyoda claims that as a result, they have evolved into the "silent majority." Car & Driver said that certain automakers have said they will switch to all-electric vehicles in the upcoming years. Gigantic companies like Honda and General Motors are among the businesses that have made this decision. Not to mention that early-stage companies like Rivian and Canoo have already begun transitioning their portfolios to all-electric vehicles. The RT1 electric pickup truck and the RTS all-electric SUV are the only two models Rivian currently sells. However, no fuel-powered automobiles were present for the auto starter. In due time, major businesses in the sector will follow suit. However, it appears that Toyota will continue to offer a more varied selection despite the current trend. We "[should] not limit ourselves to just one choice because the correct solution is still unclear," says Toyoda.
