Young Liu, the chairman of Hon Hai stated, “After we announced our plans to build EVs in 2020, many people questioned whether Foxconn can build cars,” “Then when we unveiled three models a year later, everyone thought, ‘wow, how did they manage to develop three models in just a year?’ That’s the speed we’re operating at.” On Tuesday, Foxconn technologies revealed two electric vehicles showing the major iPhone assembler, carving their niche in the electric vehicle segment like Tesla Inc. The company’s main segment is the Hon Hai Precision industry. Terry Gou, founder of Foxconn drove the Model B EV on the stage. Liu stated that the pickup truck will be produced in Thailand, the US, and Taiwan. Foxconn plans on becoming the world's number one EV producer just like they have become the largest manufacturer of electronic parts and servers including Apple. However, they do not intend on selling the EVs under their brand but for the clients from the chassis. The EVs launched by the company have not reached the customers but are meant for their future clients to show their capabilities in this segment. The prototype Model C that was revealed by Foxconn is now being produced by Yulon group, a Taiwanese automaker that is branded at Luxgen n7. Foxconn Technologies FOR New Electric Cars Liu believes that their experience in supply chain gives them a cutting edge to develop new models faster and he hopes that one day they would make cars for the US. Model B was designed with Pininfarina SpA, an Italian House which has a glass roof and with a single charge, it can run for 450 km. The company is building batteries in a solid state. In 2020, Foxtron Vehicle Technologies came into being to venture with Yulon and bought the plant Lordstown Motors Corp in Ohio to step into the US market. They struck a deal with the startup Fisker Inc by launching an EV platform.  EV is the new way to commute as the government and users are welcoming it with open arms which is good for the environment too. The demand for EVs is high. The company is paving its way which is already flooded with companies like Tesla, Nio Inc, Xpeng Inc, etc along with new freshers like Xiaomi Corp. Foxconn Technologies FOR New Electric Cars The recent restriction on the export of chips to China by the US government is a threat to the EV industry and Xpeng has alerted this affecting the Chinese market for EV makers.
