With the addition of two new RTX 4090 graphics cards, Asus has increased the range of its GeForce RTX 40-series products. The standard and OC variants of the ROG Strix LC GeForce RTX 4090 and TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 have come to compete in the high-end market. The new cards are physically smaller than Asus’ initial RTX 4090 offerings as well as many of its market rivals, which is what makes them noteworthy.
A 450W gaming graphics card, the GeForce RTX 4090 has big coolers to match. Even the elusive GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition from NVIDIA has three slots, and air-cooled AIB cards are typically even bigger.
This leaves liquid cooled cards for the size-conscious gamer, which takes us to Asus’s new ROG Strix LC GeForce RTX 4090. The closed-loop card is just 2.6 slots wide since a 240 mm radiator block that is attached takes up most of its mass.

The massive AD102 GPU and nearby GDDR6X memory chips are cooled by a cold plate in the hybrid cooling system of the ROG Strix LC GeForce RTX 4090. Large cases won’t be an issue because the heat is transmitted to the 240 mm radiator using 560 mm tubing. The other parts of the power delivery system are kept cold by a low-profile heatsink equipped with a blower-style cooling fan. To remove the heat once it arrives, a pair of 120 mm ARGB cooling fans are built inside the radiator itself.

The air-cooled TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 OG is Asus’ other brand-new RTX 4090 card and has a distinctive design all on its own. Although the graphics card uses the TUF Gaming cooler from the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, technically it is a new SKU.
