Bing Chat Is Coming In Third-Party Browsers

image credit - slashgear.com Microsoft was trying Bing Chat on third-party browsers like Google Chrome, Apple Safari, and Mozilla Firefox earlier in 2023. Now, the tech giant said that Bing Chat would be coming to these sites and mobile devices. Microsoft wants to compete with other AI services and built-in browser tools like Google's creative AI search features, which can be found in both the browser and mobile app. The official Bing blog post from Microsoft said, "This next step in the journey allows Bing to show a wider range of people the amazing value of summarized answers, image creation, and more. You'll get most of Bing's great features, and we'll keep improving as we go to meet your needs across computers. The tech giant also said that you'll be able to use Bing Chat on any app you want, but you'll get the best service on Bing. Users have noticed, for example, that Chrome's Bing only lets you send five messages per chat, while Microsoft Edge lets you send 30. Chrome only lets you use 2,000 characters on Bing, but Edge lets you use 4,000. "With Edge, you can have longer conversations, keep track of your chat past, and use more Bing features right in the browser. To use the best browser for Bing and see all of its features, all you have to do is open the Microsoft Edge browser. Can Microsoft make it happen?

Microsoft's plan to put its own service on mobile browsers and other sites is interesting. Mobile, in particular, is one of the most popular ways to get to websites, services, and apps, and Bing Chat is missing out on a key audience by not having a specific mobile version. And it's a move that makes sense since the end goal is to get more people to use Bing. It's pretty clever to get people who would never use Bing to try out Bing Chat on their favorite browser and then slowly get them to use it on Edge. But making it hard to use Bing Chat to get people to use Bing is also dangerous. Instead of getting more people to use Bing, there is a real chance that they will stop using it and return to the AI chat they used before. Switching websites is a big deal, and it's hard to get a Chrome or Firefox user to switch to a different browser just for a service they can get elsewhere. Losing mobile users would be a big blow because they make up such a big market. Microsoft might be able to get more people to use Bing if it keeps improving the experience on mobile and other browsers, like giving them dark mode, voice input, and other changes like what iPhone users got. Not to mention making the experience on the Bing browser the same as it is on other devices.
