Discord, a social media site focused on gaming, recently introduced a premium subscription that is affordable for individuals wishing to join the fray.
The new Nitro Basic package, which costs just $3 per month, gives you full access to animated custom emojis, file uploads up to 50MB, personalised profile badges, and more. For comparison, more expensive levels provide 100MB uploads, HD video streaming, personalised profiles, and server upgrades.
In other words, the Basic plan is intended for Discord newcomers who are unsure about membership fees. On October 20, this new layer will go live internationally, but it has already been tested in the UK throughout the summer.
The long-rumored Activities feature has also been formally made available throughout the whole Discord platform. Users may now share a variety of experiences—such as playing games or viewing videos—without ever leaving the Discord app.
The majority of the games are exclusively available to paying members, however once accessed, Nitro users can invite non-subscribers to play. Chess, Sketch Heads, and Putt Party (mini-golf) are just a few of the new games available. According to the company, more experiences and pursuits will be made accessible as programmers create for the new platform.
Additionally, Discord is enabling developers to charge customers for Premium App Subscriptions, allowing users to access services directly on the website without leaving it first. Although there is a new App Directory to aid in finding add-ons, developers haven't really had a chance to create anything noteworthy yet, so this notion is still in its infancy.
