How to Make Your Own Spotify Listening Receipt With Beatspend

We're all reflecting on what happened in 2022 around this time of year again, and for many music aficionados, that includes your life's playlist. Of course, streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify are aware of this type of nostalgia and have long provided tools like Spotify Wrapped and Apple Music Replay. There is still room for many different third-party developers to create their own distinctive retrospectives, though. Beatspend, an iPhone app that links to your Spotify account and displays your listening history in a novel way—as a receipt for how much you've paid in royalties to the artists for all the music you've streamed this year—is one of the coolest ones we've found so far. How to create a Spotify receipt with Beatspend

Even better, setting up the Beatspend app is quite simple and it is free. This is how:
  • Download Beatspend from the App Store to your iPhone. The program works on iPads and even Apple Silicon Macs, but the iPhone offers the finest user experience.
  • Click Open on the Program Store website after the app has finished downloading.
  • On the introduction screen, click Login With Spotify.
  • Choose Continue to give Beatspend permission to access your Spotify account.
  • If this is your first time using Beatspend to sign in to your Spotify account, choose Agree to grant the app access to your Spotify data.
The amount Spotify has paid in royalties to artists on your behalf for the music you've listened to is shown in a preview of your Spotify "spending." [caption id="attachment_77499" align="alignright" width="1200"]Beatspend Image: Beatspend[/caption]
  • Click Generate Final to bring up the receipt in full-screen mode, suitable for screenshotting.
• Since Beatsend lacks any built-in sharing options, you'll need to take a screenshot of it to save it. It will then be saved to your Photos collection where you can share it just like any other image.
  • Simply shut down Beatsend when you're finished. Your Spotify login data or any other information are not saved by the app. Simply open it once more and log back into your Spotify account as described above to generate another receipt.

Can I use Beatspend with Apple Music?

Sorry, Apple Music subscribers. Beatspend is specifically made to function with Spotify. In fact, merely opening the app requires a Spotify account. However, Apple Music subscribers can still benefit from the programmatically created Replay 2022 playlists offered by the platform. Although these aren't nearly as cool as seeing a digital receipt, they are regularly updated throughout the year to include your top hits, so at this point they ought to provide some useful insights into your listening habits.
