The platform originally acknowledged the issue on Twitter at 10:14 AM ET, but it wasn't until six hours later, around 6 PM ET, that they declared they fixed it. Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, also apologized for the widespread outage. Most importantly, reports on Downdetector reached over 7,000 at the time Instagram recognized the issue. However, since Instagram started taking action, the numbers have dropped. During the outage, Instagram's own account also lost over a million followers. Additional details Several iPhone users encountered another Instagram app breakdown last month. Although some users who were still on iOS 15 reported no issues with the app's operation, the fault appeared when the v225.0 upgrade was applied to the app. But with the most recent outage, Instagram made no additional mention of the issue's root cause. Moreover, users reported being unable to properly read all of the content on their feeds when the platform's server went down in May of this year. Some users also saw the "Welcome to Instagram" message, but no photographs, stories, or reels on their feed during that time. According to the report from Instagram via Down Detector, the problem, which persisted for many hours, was referred to as an "intermittent outage."We're aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We're looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience. #instagramdown
