Various MacBooks and iPhones from Apple will cost more to replace batteries in 2023. The Cupertino-based tech giant revealed that the costs for replacing a product's out-of-warranty battery will increase beginning of March. Depending on the gadget, the hike can cost anywhere from $20 to $50. According to a recent report by Apple Insider, the increase only applies to iPhone models older than the current iPhone 14 series, including the iPhone 5, which was created by Steve Jobs. In its article, the media site mentions how the well-known tech giant previously raised the price of the iPhone 14's battery service when it first went on sale in September of last year. It jumps to $99 for its most recent flagship from the standard $69 price. Apple disclosed that it is also increasing pricing for other iPhone models. The technological behemoth declared that "the current out-of-warranty battery servicing charge will apply through the end of February 2023. Because of this, iPhone or MacBook users may want to have their batteries checked before the climb. Since they still have around two months to do it, they still have time. The famed phone company has said that it will raise the replacement cost starting in March of this year. Apple notes that for all iPhone models older than the iPhone 14, the out-of-warranty battery servicing charge will go up by $20. On the other hand, older models that still feature the traditional home button increase the cost from $49 to $69. That the pricing is valid for the iPhone 5 is important to note. Reports claimed that several MacBook models will also be affected by the increase in battery replacement fees, which will range from $30 to $50. According to the Cupertino behemoth, the previously $199 MacBook Pro models are now $249 due to price escalation of up to $50.
