Image Source: Instant Gaming Microsoft has stated that it is discontinuing its long-running $1 Xbox Game Pass Ultimate trial and is looking into other options for new subscribers. Many news agencies claimed over the weekend that Microsoft has discontinued its $1 Game Pass promotion from numerous regions. With this offer, new customers may get a month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass for $1. Following the first month, the normal Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership cost $14.99 per month ($9.99 per month for PC Game Pass alone). No other information regarding these potential new marketing efforts has been released as of yet. Others speculate that the trial's closure is tied to Microsoft's proposed merger with Activision-Blizzard and the Redmond-based company's plans to include Activision-Blizzard games to its Xbox Game Pass collection. The UK regulator CMA revealed Microsoft, Sony, and Activision-answers Blizzard's to its preliminary conclusions this month. "The evidence presented in the Provisional Findings do not provide any plausible basis on which it could be found that the Merger is likely to give rise to an SLC in any market in the UK", Microsoft wrote to the CMA. "Microsoft’s conduct in concluding legally binding agreements with Nintendo and NVIDIA shows that it has neither the ability nor incentive to make CoD exclusive to the Xbox platform."
