Before the end of 2022, Nubia plans to release its response to new Android smartphones like the Motorola Moto X40. In addition, the OEM is aiming for speculated handsets like the Xiaomi 12S Ultra with upgraded back camera technology for the forthcoming Z50. It is also marketed as having internal storage and RAM specifications that match its new top-of-the-line silicon.
An unexpectedly early launch date has been announced by Nubia for the introduction of a new flagship Android device powered by the latest
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU. The OEM has also stated that this device—which weirdly seems to go by the name Z50 even though its predecessor was the Z40 Pro—will compete with the
Xiaomi 13 and
iQOO 11 series with cutting-edge LPDDR5X RAM and storage with the most recent UFS 4.0 specification.

The highest-end 1-inch main back cameras for smartphones are expected to debut in a few upcoming mobile devices with similar high-end internals. Even though Nubia promises that its "new bespoke optical system," which could result in a 35mm lens that is improved over the one in the Z40 Pro, can capture even more light than those extremely large sensors, it has not been confirmed that the Z50 will be one of them.
Therefore, this could be Nubia's attempt to make up for the Z50's absence of one. This may be confirmed or refuted at its launch event, which is now officially scheduled to take place on December 19, 2022, just a few days after that of the Motorola Moto X40.
