Yuesheng Wang was apprehended by Canadian police after he allegedly sent trade secrets to Chinese universities and research facilities while working for Hydro-Quebec in Canada.
Law enforcement officials allege that the employee leaked information and gave it to Chinese parties, which led to the suspect's espionage charge. The case began in August when Hydro-corporate Quebec's security filed a formal complaint against Wang and alerted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to the issue.

Yuesheng Wang, 35, is reportedly being charged with espionage after allegedly stealing trade secrets from Hydro-Quebec, according to a report in the South China Morning Post.
The suspect is accused of using his position to send information to Chinese universities and research institutions so they could publish patents and technological advancements.
The former employee was already reported to the RCMP for his involvement in the aforementioned espionage last August, and they continued to keep an eye on his alleged actions that betrayed his employment conditions.

According to RCMP Inspector David Beaudoin, Wang's action promoted research and development at the People's Republic of China rather than with Canada and Hydro-Quebec.
