When throngs of tourists and partygoers were jammed into a small lane in the city's nightlife center, a stampede occurred that claimed more than 150 lives in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. According to several accounts, investigators are currently examining the particular circumstances surrounding the incident. Videos on the internet imply that the crowds grew out of control and that afterward, the police started getting calls about persons who had been buried in the masses. According to CNN, Itaewon has a reputation for being a favorite Halloween celebration location, especially in recent years as the event has grown in popularity in Asia. For the first major Halloween party after Covid-19 restrictions were released, tens of thousands of people, largely youths dressed in elaborate Halloween costumes, descended on the district on Saturday night.
