Months after two different Apple executives left the company, two more Apple execs will resign from their posts in the coming months, affecting the operations of the division they will be leaving. Hence, this month, Apple is about to lose two more executives. According to sources, Apple Online Store Vice President Anna Matthiasson and Apple Information System Head Mary Demby are planning to depart the organization. These are the highest-level roles that directly answer to Tim Cook, the company's Chief Executive Officer.
Furthermore, uncertainty surrounds Matthiasson's choice to depart the company. The reason is that she held this post for three years, however, she had held other positions at
Apple before becoming an executive (Operations Executive). On another note, Karen Rasmussen, who most recently worked in e-commerce before landing the current position, will take over for Matthiasson.
Moreover, she co-led the Apple Online Store with the team's President, which was crucial to the business, particularly during the pandemic when all physical retail stores were shut down for months. Before she introduced Apple Pay, Jennifer Bailey had this post. Bailey currently manages Apple Wallet, Apple Card, and additional financial services that the company provides.
More details
Demby, who worked for the organization for approximately three decades, is leaving due to retirement. According to sources, no choices have been made regarding who would replace Demby, hence it is now vacant. However, David Smoley, who served as Demby's team's vice president in 2019, could likely take Demby's post. Smoley worked for the pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca as its Chief Information Officer.
On another note, sources reveal that even Evans Hankey is departing the company. In addition, this news came days before Apple officially announced the resignations of the two execs. The job is still open as of right now, and the corporation is still considering who will take her place.
Together with Alan Dy, Hankey previously served as the organization's design leader in 2019, the same year
Jony Ive left Apple. She collaborated closely with Ive throughout this process, therefore she was also involved in how the company's goods were produced.
In other news, the leadership webpage still has no successors for the Vice President of Design since Ive left. Due to this, some criticized Tim Cook's management because he gives operations executives' decisions first priority without consulting the company's design team.
Lastly, Jane Horvath, who served as Apple's Chief Privacy Officer from 2014 to last August, left the company to join the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Los Angeles. Horvath was involved in Apple's legal battle with Epic Games for anti-competitive actions in 2020.
