Snapchat is introducing an initial set of parental controls to users in India a few months after its debut in the United States and a few other markets, to provide parents and guardians in the key overseas market with insights into how their teens are using the social networking app. The Family Center in-app tool allows parents and guardians to see who their children's Facebook friends are and who they have messaged in the last seven days. (They cannot see the specific content of those messages.) It also adds the ability to report potential abuse and safety concerns to Snap's Trust and Safety team for review. Because Snapchat is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, parental controls are only available to parents and guardians of teens aged 13 to 18. Snap first announced the availability of parental controls in October of last year, and they were made available in the United States in August. This was followed by the introduction of similar features by competing for social networking platforms such as Meta's Instagram and TikTok. Snap's offering, on the other hand, is limited.
