Texas Burger Chain is Now Closed in All of Its Locations

You may need to look elsewhere if you want a San Antonio-style burger. A popular local burger joint closed all its branches overnight. Hometown Burger announced Sunday at 10 p.m. that all eight of its restaurants will be permanently closed. However, it didn't give any explanation. The company stated on its website that it had received a thank-you letter from the chain, which confirmed that the chain was now defunct. "We'll be seeing you on the other side." My San Antonio reports that Hometown Burger was established in 2016, and its eighth Southside location opened just one year ago. It is known for its fresh, not frozen, burgers, onion rings and retro-style dining. Customers had their own theories, even though the chain couldn't explain the sudden disappearance from the city's dining-in scene.  "When a new location opened, ALL the Google reviews complained about one thing: the wait in line," one person wrote on Reddit. "If you arrived expecting the wait, it wasn't bad at all, but surely this played a factor in many people not coming back, unfortunately for Hometown Burger." this-texas-burger-chain-just-abruptly-shuttered-all-of-its-locations Others were struck by the variety of burger places in the area, the long waits for service, even though there were only a few customers, and the unprofessional employees. Former Hometown Burger employees complain about being underappreciated, understaffed and overworked on Indeed.com. They did however enjoy the free lunch. One worker explained that although working at Hometown Burgers was initially rewarding, management began having problems. This led to scheduling delays, severe staff shortages, and scheduling delays. The $5 banana split will be missed by former customers. One person said, "I don’t know where else I can get a good banana sandwich for $5. It’s a start to summer tradition for me." Benny and Lisa Costello, Hometown Burger's restaurant chain restaurateurs, also own Tia's Taco Hut and Tio's Tex-Mex. They also own Mr. C's Fried Chicken and Waffles and Don Benito's Cocina y Cantina. However, they appear to all remain open.
