The destiny of the US and its next leaders into a new four-year term, particularly for the President and Vice President roles, would shortly be decided by the impending 2024 national elections. But a new system will be tested by the US CIS later this year to make sure everything runs well and prevent any issues in the future. The most recent elections, which were held during the pandemic, were held almost four years ago, and they did so using voting equipment that was already state-of-the-art. In advance of the 2024 U.S. presidential election, the Center for Internet Security (CIS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the cybersecurity posture of organizations and individuals, announced plans to start a national testing program for new voting technology. The CIS has taken the initiative to create a thorough testing program to assess the security of new voting technology in light of the rising concern over cybersecurity and election integrity. To allow enough time for testing and the implementation of any necessary modifications, the voluntary program is scheduled to commence by September 2023, well before the 2024 presidential election. This new approach will depend on how state offices use it, but there is a lot of interest in the technology, claims Interesting Engineering. The objective is to safeguard democracy in the country and make sure that there are no issues with voting machines or other voting procedures when the country elects its next president. The election is a moment when the country will be divided over its ideas, ideals, and aspirations because picking a leader who can balance both sides and serve the people is not a choice that can be made quickly. The internet and social media are also the most important factor during the election season since people express their opinions and engage in debate there. As a result, social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and others are considering outlawing online postings that contain "militarized language," false information, and misinformation. A considerable effort is being made to improve the security and integrity of voting systems via the Center for Internet Security's national testing program for new voting technologies before the 2024 U.S. presidential election. The CIS aspires to increase public trust in the election process by conducting thorough evaluations of voting technology and disclosing its results and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
