The most recent e-bike generation from VanMoof is set to function with better anti-theft technology. Additionally, the company replaced the tube-based display with Halo Rings close to the buttons on each side of the S3 and X3 bikes, with one ring serving as the digital bell and the other as the boost control, which is a huge alteration. According to sources, they even improved the gear shift technology for a smoother ride.
Furthermore, the new e-bike from VanMoof will not only display the battery life, but also the motor's efficiency and the lock's status. Therefore, riders will benefit from increased visibility for a secure ride on the road.
Moreover, the security of VanMoof bikes is one of its key selling factors. As a result, the S5 and A5's anti-theft system has a better kick lock on the back wheel. So, if users have their phones with them, they can unlock the
e-bikes automatically. Otherwise, riders can unlock it with a number code they need to tap into the left handlebar. Interestingly, if someone were to try to steal them, the lock will raise an alert and then temporarily disable the e-bike's features.
In addition, owners have the option of paying an additional $398 for three years of coverage, which will have the backing of bike hunters. The hunters come equipped with Bluetooth signal detectors to locate stolen bikes. Additionally, the e-bike will send its location through 3G.
What's more
You can report your bike as stolen if it goes missing on the VanMoof app. If hunters are unable to locate it in two weeks, the company will replace your bike.
Additionally, the business added compatibility for Apple's Find My network, but this will only allow owners of e-bikes to locate other riders in a parking lot, not necessarily locate a stolen one.
The new features
The company reduced the step-in on the A5, making it smaller and giving riders a sense of being closer to the road. In addition, it has a 463 Wh battery, which is quite small compared to the S5's 487 Wh.
Also, it takes six and a half hours to fully charge both models. On the one hand, the A5 has a range of approximately 34 miles on full power and 87 miles on economy power on a full charge. On the other hand, on maximum power, the S5 has a range of 37 miles, which can increase to 93 miles when using economy power.

Lastly, VanMoof hinted at a fast charger as well, but the cost is still unknown. The VanMoof V, the company's more expensive high-speed e-Bike, on the other hand, has had its manufacture put off until late 2023.
