Walmart introduces a Roblox "metaverse" experience to market items to kids

Roblox, an online game platform, has seen the debut of two "immersive experiences" by Walmart. The store is portraying the debut as a bold foray into the metaverse, but the "experiences" — two virtual worlds called Walmart Land and Walmart's Universe of Play — are just a means of marketing products to kids.  Despite its seeming triviality, Roblox has more than 50 million daily active players, two-thirds under the age of 16. Therefore, Walmart is undoubtedly experimenting with virtual worlds to attempt and capture this market. Virtual waiting areas include Walmart Land and Universe of Play. Many minigames and experiences, such as a Ferris wheel, "interactive piano corridor," and DJ booth, are designed to steer gamers into particular businesses.  Therefore, a virtual changing room allows you to use cash gathered in Walmart Land to outfit your avatar with accessories like Skullcandy headphones or a Fitbit activity tracker. More interestingly, you can race Razor scooters around a track or hang out with PAW Patrol members in Universe of Play. Everything is effortless in terms of aesthetics and gameplay mechanics, but that is expected from Roblox. Walmart introduces a Roblox All kinds of businesses, like Dell, Disney, MTV, and Mazda, opened experiences and stores inside the virtual environment Second Life during its prime. Advertising funds must be spent somewhere, and the "metaverse" branding supposedly offers an outdated marketing tactic and a superficial futurist shine. With 200,000 "Welcome to Walmart Land" badges given for joining the game for the first time, a respectable number of players have at least logged in, according to statistics for the game's achievements.  However, only a few gamers have achieved other feats, such as obtaining a free "treasure box" from a circling blimp. And The Verge was one of only a few avatars taking in Walmart Land's very gloomy sights and noises when we first signed in to the game this morning.
