Elon Musk Fires More Twitter Content Moderators, Reports

As per reports, Elon Musk's Twitter has further decreased the number of personnel on its trust and safety team, which is in charge of policing hate speech and disinformation as well as moderating all worldwide material. On Friday, Jan. 7, Bloomberg was informed by unnamed sources that at least a dozen employees at the company's Dublin and Singapore offices had been let go. Analuisa Dominguez, the senior director of revenue policy for the app, and Nur Azhar Bin Ayob, the head of site integrity for Twitter's Asia-Pacific region, are reportedly among those being let go. Members of teams for the state media, misinformation policy, and worldwide appeals on Twitter were also removed from their posts. She asserted that Twitter does eliminate jobs in divisions where traffic was insufficient to justify continued investment. She did, however, add that the social network has increased staff in its appeals department and that it would continue to employ a head of revenue policy and a head for the Asia-Pacific area in charge of trust and safety. Musk spent $44 billion for Twitter in October, partially financing the deal with $13 billion in debt and $1.5 billion in interest payments each year. Since then, he has been redesigning the social media platform, which he claims is in risk of going out of business and was losing $4 million daily as of early November 2022. This is clear from the suspension of several people who were identified as spreaders of offensive speech and false information. For instance, the site fact-checked the majority of tweets by former US President Donald Trump during the 2020 elections. Despite worries that it would be stifling free expression, Twitter tightened up its policing of any political post that contains untrue information. However, Elon Musk took the initiative and defended his absolutist view of free speech. After granting them all general amnesty, he later lifted the ban on Trump and other contentious personalities. After Musk fired the majority of the board, Twitter's staff was drastically cut. When he issued a "hardcore" working deadline, some of its employees quit their jobs.
