Lenovo updates ThinkPad laptops with new CPUs and recycled metals.

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon, X1 Yoga, and X1 Nano laptops will all get latest Intel CPU processors and, for the first time, recycled materials. The company's laptops will use up to 97 percent PPC plastic in their battery housings and 95 percent PPC plastic in their speaker enclosures. The palm rest on Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 will be made of 90% recycled magnesium. The clamshell's bottom cover will be made of recycled aluminium in the proportion of 55%. Lenovo said that, in addition to sustainable packaging, all laptops are qualified for its CO2 Offset Services programme. The programme allows you to purchase carbon offsets based on Lenovo's expected projected carbon emissions over the course of five years of device use. Lenovo claimed in October that carbon offset transactions from its ThinkPad and ThinkBook computers had reduce over 1 million metric tonnes of CO2. ThinkPad X1 Extreme G5

Lenovo's announcement of upcoming laptops today also highlighted the preloading of the Lenovo Commercial Vantage app, which the company claims can help users save energy. Human Presence Detection, for example, uses the laptop's camera to recognize your presence and locks the system if you are not. Aside from environmentally friendly components, the new ThinkPads will continue the trend of remote and hybrid work practises. Each laptop can use AI and its camera continue providing posture warnings and "eye wellness alerts," and the new X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga will be able to blur their screens or alert you if they detect someone looking over your shoulder at the display. The webcams on the laptops have a resolution of up to 1080p and support RGB and IR.
