Netflix increases the revenue from password sharing

Customers in four more nations must now pay an extra cost if they share their Netflix account with someone who is not a member of their family. Sadly, a Netflix policy on sharing passwords may also have an impact on regular travelers and VPN users who don't even share their accounts. The world's largest streaming service, Netflix, is still fighting the prevalent practice of password sharing. A relatively rigorous rule may annoy some VPN users and even customers who travel regularly, in addition to a more or less reasonable price for additional users outside the account owner's household. Customers are allowed to add a maximum of two additional viewers outside of their own homes. An additional Netflix watcher now charges 7.99 CAD or 7.99 NZD in Canada and New Zealand, where password sharing is now also commercialized. The need that Netflix consumers designate a main location in their account settings is even more intriguing. Users would reportedly need to check in with a local IP from this specific area at least once per month, which could be problematic for vacationers who spend longer than a month away from home and want to access their preferred Netflix shows or movies from a different region. Last but not least, this new approach may make it more difficult to view some Netflix programs and films that are only available in other countries by using a VPN, if not outright prohibit it. It is yet unknown, though, whether and when the streaming service would implement these password sharing measures for its millions of consumers in the US and other countries.
