The upcoming price rise for Microsoft's first-party games will also apply to its PC releases, the company revealed to Digital Trends. Future games like Starfield, Redfall, and Forza Motorsport will be impacted by the shift in 2023.
According to a rumor from IGN this morning, Microsoft will increase the cost of Xbox Series X|S games from $60 to $70. Microsoft was asked by Digital Trends if this also applied to the PC versions of their games. Yes, starting in 2023, our brand-new full-priced titles will cost $69.99 across console and PC marketplaces, according to a Microsoft spokeswoman. Regardless of the platform, this cost reflects the size, scope, and complexity of these titles. With Game Pass, these titles will also be accessible on launch day.

Microsoft will be the most recent business to follow companies like Sony, Activision, and Electronic Arts in charging $70 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of their titles. According to Xbox CEO Phil Spencer, Microsoft won't begin boosting prices on Xbox's goods and services until after the holiday shopping season, but it will be fully implemented by the time Xbox's major 2023 releases arrive.
Because of the price increase across the board, Xbox Game Pass appears to be an even more alluring deal since users just have to fork over up to $15 each month for access to a number of different games as opposed to paying an upfront fee of $70 for a single first-party Xbox game. Thankfully, neither the Xbox Series X or S consoles nor Game Pass have yet suffered a price hike. Earlier this year, Sony raised the price of the PS5 in international regions.
