Ron Jeremy Escapes Trial For Dozens of Rape And Sexual Assault Charges Due To "Incurable Neurocognitive Decline"

On Tuesday, a court in Los Angeles determined that porn actor Ron Jeremy lacked the mental capacity to stand trial. Jeremy, whose real name is Ronald Hyatt, was charged with sexual assault on more than 30 counts in August 2021. Additionally, the alleged crimes date back to 1996, and the alleged victims range in age from 15 to 51. Since his arrest, he has been imprisoned after entering a not-guilty plea. Furthermore, the 69-year-old former adult film actor has "incurable neurocognitive decline," Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald S. Harris declared at the hearing, according to reports. Jeremy has "severe dementia," according to a Los Angeles County prosecutor's email that the Los Angeles Times was able to get. Two and a half years ago when he was arrested I made a comment that I felt very strongly that he was going to be found innocent. Two years and a half have gone by and I feel had we gone to trial he would have been acquitted. Unfortunately, because of his mental condition, he won't have that opportunity to prove his innocence." Ron Jeremy's admission to a state hospital will be the subject of a hearing on February 7. According to the email acquired by the Times, before his arrest in 2020, some of Jeremy's family members apparently thought he had dementia.
